Pros and Cons of Costa Rica so far!

Friday June 22nd, 2012
Our new house – the Uvita House – is pretty awesome as well – nestled in the hills above Uvita with a killer view, amazing tall ceilings, great pool, modern kitchen, two tvs and lots of games and movies.

Couple of problems though:
1)   the road up here – can it be any steeper? Not without being vertical…
2)   the road up here – could it be any rockier? Nope…
3)   Air conditioning – it is here, but where are the remotes??? It is pretty darn HOT here in Costa Rica…
4)   Fridge – please make it cold? The freezer is barely fridge material… we need cold drinks…
5)   Internet? I am convinced it was supposed to be internet here… but alas, no such thing exists…
6)   Bugs bugs bugs – someone could have warned us that there are a MILLION bugs here…

Other stuff we want to complain about:
1)   it is expensive in Costa Rica – US prices without a doubt
2)   it is HOT in Costa Rica…
3)   The roads are horrible – thank God we have an SUV – it wont live long though
4)   This town… well – I know it is authentic and all – but I guess I like un-authentic a lot too LOL this is pretty primitive…

Stuff we want to YAY about:
1)   the view – wow…
2)   the pool – love love love the pool
3)   English – everybody speaks it – I dont need to dust off my horrible Spanish EVER
4)   The House – wow – stunning
5)   The food is pretty good!
6)   Did I mention the VIEW???

So all in all we are having a splendid time here in Costa Rica. As with Santa Barbara, I am nervous in houses that are ALL glass… even if it is way up in the hillside where there PROBABLY wont be any bad guys… I just dont like it… especially when it is SO hot, we have to have everything open (screens etc). We are spending more money than we expected though, given that stuff are equally expensive here as in the US (and often as in Norway as well) – which we did not expect.

The kids are watching lots of movies, we are playing lots of games (mainly Guess Who and Cluedo – in Spanish), reading lots all the time, and swimming and eating! We only have three more days at the house before we go up north in Costa Rica on Tuesday – which will be cool! On Monday we plan on going ziplining and on a canopy tour of the rainforest – which will be awesome. In the meantime – Saturday and Sunday and today (Friday) we are just going to chill, play games, watch movies, read, swim and eat. Gotta love vacation time!
