Horsebackriding Wednesday June 20th was interesting and
scary and fun – all wrapped up in one! For one – it was actually pretty
expensive – 1800 norwegian crownes (300 usd) – but it was for all five of us,
for 5,5 hours and with both breakfast and lunch included. Secondly, we realized
fast that no helmets were included – and that Bella was going to have her own
horse which she would be RIDING without a helmet…
So we were nervous – and it was pretty scary and I went
through every worst case scenarios possible. I got especially nervous when they
put us on our hourses and they just started walking – and I was absolutely not
in control. Within short however, one of the guides came up and hung aorund our
little family the rest of the trip (there were four groups going this
Wednesday).
The trip went up and down hills on tiny and rocky paths, and
over rivers and ponds, and Bella and Theodore were doing just fine the whole
time. A couple of times their horses started galloping but the guide was there
right away slowing the horses down. William turned back to me once and
proclaimed how exciting and fun this was and that I had done a good job
arranging the trip. That made me happy to hear J

The breakfast area was at a tiny farm and zoo in the middle
of the rain forest. They had scarlet maccaws there, and monkeys and other
animals – and they were relatively tame (given that the owners were feeding
them). We got an ok breakfast, and hung out for about an hour there before
moving on to the waterfalls.
These were amazingly beautiful – as all waterfalls are
really – nothing really new or special about them – except they were in Costa
Rica. We first took pictures at the top one, and then went down to the swimming
area of the second waterfall (they are cascading waterfalls, which was pretty
cool I guess). The kids were only allowed to swim close to rocks in the natural
6 meter deep pool under the waterfall, but both Arild and I took a little swim
closer to the fall, and it was pretty amazing. The water was really cool and
nice!
Afterwards, we rode our horses back to the little zoo and had
lunch there, before heading down to the cars again. All in all a pretty awesome
day J
